Dear Bomb Proofing Participants,

      Due to the inclement weather report for Saturday and taking into consideration the electrical PA system, Rick Pelicano and I have decided to reschedule the long awaited Bomb Proofing Clinic. 

It will be rescheduled for the first open Sunday this fall. We will keep you informed on the date as soon as we know when the Club’s Show Grounds are available.

Bombproofing Your Horse ~ Clinic with Rick Pelicano

11:00-11:30 a.m.: Riders and Auditors meet in the Grandstand with Rick for a briefing

11:30 a.m.-2:00 p.m.: Mounted session, Auditors can watch from the Grandstand

Join Sgt. Pelicano as he helps riders and their horses learn to respond in a safe and smart manner to unexpected obstacles and distractions.

Help your horse learn to accept the unexpected without bolting, shying, or becoming undone.

Make your time spent riding safe and enjoyable for both you and your horse.

Using the same rigorous training as police horses, Rick Pelicano teaches behavior management techniques as riders negotiate obstacle courses, smoke, gunfire, sirens, flags, and other mechanisms.

With over 30 years of time-tested skill and authority in exceptional equine and rider training, Sgt. Pelicano began his distinguished career in 1982 as a mounted patrol officer with the Maryland National Capital Park Police. Since then, he obtained certification through the American Riding Instructor Certification Program (ARICP), earning the ARICP Instructor of the Year award in 1995. A Level III Mounted Patrol Training Officer, Rick performed mounted security detail at the 1996 Olympics held in Atlanta, Georgia. In addition, he attended a mounted police training course with the prestigious Royal Canadian Mounted Police. Rick is also the author of a training book entitled Bombproof Your Horse.
